Agriculture: scarcity of corn in Scotland - House of Commons passed a bill allowing the import of foreign corn into North Britain for 4 months from 3 Sep. Northern part of Scotland in the most calamitous condition - it appears that many of the poor Highlanders in Inverness-shire have died from want of provisions (London, 6 June).

(3rd person in family killed by wagons etc recently - Mrs Kite's first husband, Christopher White, killed in Beckington on 5 Jan 1783 & his son, also Christopher White, killed in Amesbury on 30 May 1782.
