News: at Raby Castle (seat of Earl of Darlington) last week, Viscount Barnard had a birthday party where Sir Fredk. Vane's youngest brother was taken ill & was advised to take the Bath waters, for which he set out immediately. So ill when he reached Knightsbridge, that was placed in lodgings & is now in a dangerous state. He is attended by Dr Warren & Sir George Baker.

Crime: Monday night, Mr Howton, auctioneer (returning from Bradford Leigh Fair) robbed at top of hill, Claverton Down of 14 guin & his watch by 2 footpads, one a stout young man in a brown coat who stopped the horse, the other presented a pistol to his head. Afterwards they made off through the Firs.

They were taken before Dr Small, JP, who committed them to Gloucester jail. Chas. Frost, a cutler from Sheffield, Thomas Fox bricklayer, & Robert Collins, a 4th man was sent to Newgate, Bristol, 1 escaped
