Crime: deserted from His Majesty's Marines at Frome last Sat - George Manley, age 21 yrs from Broadclift, Devon (where he enlisted). Anyone apprehending him or bringing him to Sergeant Francis of the Marines (recruiting at Frome) will receive 1 guin reward. Military: American War - (letter from New York 30 Oct) Lord Cornwallis has suspended Maj. Gen. Gates in consequence of the defeat of the army under the latter's command. Maj. Gen. Green has declined nomination to that post unless assured of 12,000 well provided & well appointed troops.
