Law: ancient custom in Bristol - any horse, mare etc found in streets after nightfall may be impounded at any Inn, the innkeeper pays 3d to bringer for beer & 1s as premium. An owner considered this practice to be illegal & transferred his legal case from Bristol to the Court of Common Pleas in London, who discharged the rule
