George Dowdy, a private soldier of Shepton Mallet received mortal wound & Coroner's inquest brought in verdict of wilful murder against one Styles, a drummer. Next morning, soldiers reassured by officers that their fears were ill-founded, & at review they went though their exercise & firing before several thousand spectators (Taunton 14 June)
